GM Fleet Design System & Site Redesign
The challenge:
GM Fleet needed a completely new design system—one that could serve as the foundation for a modern, responsive web experience. Our task was to build that system from the ground up, in collaboration with a sister agency, and publish a living style guide of functional UI components. Once established, the design system would be used to redesign GMFleet.com and support its migration to a fully responsive platform.
The work:
I began by designing the UI components for the design system, using existing brand guidelines as a foundation. I met bi-weekly with development teams to deliver handoff files and QA their progress to ensure accuracy and consistency. Once the system was complete, I partnered with content strategy to reimagine the site’s architecture, focusing on clarity, usability, and scalability.
The execution:
With the new structure in place, I led a small team of two UI designers and two UX copywriters to redesign the site using our new system. We delivered high-fidelity wireframes to development teams and implemented a process for annotating and delivering UX patterns to content authors. Throughout the project, I met regularly with business stakeholders to align on progress, gather feedback, and ensure the final product met both user and business needs.
